Business After 5 with Marlborough Sustainable Housing Trust

Description

As business grows in Marlborough, so does the demand for affordable housing. One in five 5 renter households pay more than half their household incomes in rent.

The Marlborough Sustainable Housing Trust is working to make a difference.

Its current project is construction of three four-bedroom homes in Hutcheson Street – with features including solar panels to reduce power bills, Homestar 6 ratings for energy efficiency/sustainability and a LifeMark 5 rating to assist those with disabilities.

The Trust is hosting its BA5 in one of the homes before it’s let at below market rents before Christmas.

Trustees are now engaging to bring together a second major project alongside its existing rental and rent-to-buy properties.

They want to show Chamber members what can be done when a community comes together – and attract some new trustees to develop their governance skills in a progressive not-for-profit organisation.
